# Another Rooney-like deal ‘expected’ for Everton as Koeman continues big spend

**It’s been quite the summer for the Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern, who simply can’t believe just how well Ronald Koeman has done in the market thus far.**

A whole host of new signings – including a certain Wayne Rooney – have arrived at Goodison Park and optimism really is abound ahead of next season under the Dutchman’s steady watch.

So, reports from the [Daily Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/gylfi-sigurdsson-wayne-rooney-everton-10813281) have only furthered the excitement today, as they claim Swansea City star Gylfi Sigurdsson is [expected](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/gylfi-sigurdsson-wayne-rooney-everton-10813281) to join the Toffees’ revolution. A £40m bid for the Iceland star is [understood](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/gylfi-sigurdsson-wayne-rooney-everton-10813281) to have been snubbed, though this report [suggests](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/gylfi-sigurdsson-wayne-rooney-everton-10813281) a deal could go through.

The 27-year-old will [reportedly](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/gylfi-sigurdsson-wayne-rooney-everton-10813281) be handed a contract on the same level as the aforementioned Rooney, who [apparently](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/gylfi-sigurdsson-wayne-rooney-everton-10813281) rakes in a cool £150k-per-week on Merseyside. That’d be a huge increase on the [reported](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/gylfi-sigurdsson-wayne-rooney-everton-10813281) £80k-per-week he earns in South Wales.

Leicester City are another party who are [thought](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/gylfi-sigurdsson-wayne-rooney-everton-10813281) to retain an interest in former Tottenham man, though Everton’s offer is [said](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/gylfi-sigurdsson-wayne-rooney-everton-10813281) to blow their’s out of the water, in what has been a crazy transfer window thus far.

With [Ross Barkley’s](https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/transfers/tottenham-transfer-news-ross-barkley-bid-50million-everton-price-a7843641.html) future up in the air, our resident Toffees pray Sigurdsson arrives to take his place.

**Thoughts?**
