# West Ham: ExWHUemployee drops Armando Broja claim

**[West Ham United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/west-ham-news/) insider ExWHUemployee has shared the latest news on the Hammers’ pursuit of in-demand Chelsea striker Armando Broja.**

### **The Lowdown: Broja’s breakthrough**

The 20-year-old enjoyed a strong breakout campaign in the [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) whilst on loan at Southampton this season.

The attacker made [32 league appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/armando-broja/leistungsdaten/spieler/571743) for Saints, adding six goals to his name, nine in all competitions.

However, it was suggested that Broja was [not happy](https://thisisfutbol.com/2022/05/blogs/premier-league/southampton/southampton-armando-broja-transfer-leeds-saints-fc/) during the second half of the season whilst playing for the south-coast side, possibly explaining why he did not score a single goal after February.

### **The Latest: West Ham’s interest**

After [Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12637637/armando-broja-west-ham-set-to-bid-30m-for-chelsea-striker) reported that West Ham are set to bid £30m for the Chelsea man, fans turned to club insider ExWHUemployee to see whether there was any truth in the rumours.

Taking to [Twitter](https://twitter.com/ExWHUemployee/status/1538942089047728128), Ex replied:

“I don’t think a formal offer has been submitted yet but there has been some discussions as there have with the other targets I mentioned but I believe Broja has always been a top choice for Moyes (something we said months ago)”

### **The Verdict: Good signing**

At just 20-years-old, the Albania international has a lot of years left to prove his worth in the English top-flight.

And compared with positional peers across Europe over the past year, the striker ranks in the 86th percentile for aerials won and in the 82nd percentile for interceptions made (via [FB Ref](https://fbref.com/en/players/97220da2/Armando-Broja)), showing he can be the same dominant physical force up top that Michail Antonio so often is.

With sky-high potential, it is easy to see why David Moyes is keen on the player dubbed ‘[powerful](https://twitter.com/Buntingfootball/status/1484960062955208712?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw)‘ by journalist Josh Bunting, given his current lack of options behind Antonio.
