# Arsenal and Chelsea ready for colossal £83m battle for lethal forward despite Euro giants deal

**With England continuing to cause embarrassment wherever they go, the punters in the Transfer Tavern are focusing firmly on the transfer market in an attempt to forget all about it.**

As they drown their sorrows, the Manchester United and Chelsea fans have at least been given something to cheer about, following reports emanating out of Spain.

According to *[El Confidencial](https://www.elconfidencial.com/deportes/futbol/eurocopa/2016-06-27/griezmann-pogba-francia-seleccion-irlanda-barcelona-atletico-real-madrid_1223693/),* the Premier League pair are STILL weighing up an attempt to sign France’s Euro 2016 hero Antoine Griezmann this summer.

The Atletico Madrid forward recently [penned](https://en.as.com/en/2016/06/23/football/1466681304_641368.html) a new deal in the Spanish capital, though his release clause was bumped up by ‘just’ €20m.

Now, he would be available for €100m, which equates to roughly £83m.

His exploits for *Les Blues* during the Euros is [believed](https://www.elconfidencial.com/deportes/futbol/eurocopa/2016-06-27/griezmann-pogba-francia-seleccion-irlanda-barcelona-atletico-real-madrid_1223693/) to have forced both the Red Devils and the Blues to keep a keen eye over his situation at the Vicente Calderon.

Moves to England have been mooted for the former Real Sociedad man for a while now as he matures into one of the most potent attackers on the continent.

**Can Griezmann close the gap on the likes of Messi and Ronaldo?**
