**The Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Transfer Tavern doing their best to drown the memories of a poor end to the season have been given reason to cheer once again.**

With Champions League football on the way, the fans in tonight have met reports in from Brazilian based journalist [Felipe Mekhitarian](https://twitter.com/BrasileiraoBlog/status/734730340846206976?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw)with applause as the North London outfit [reportedly](https://twitter.com/BrasileiraoBlog/status/734730340846206976?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) close in on a stunning deal for Sao Paolo striker Jonathan Calleri.

The 22-year old has been linked with moves to both Spurs and [Arsenal](https://www.fichajes.com/serie-a/jonathan-calleri-la-joya-argentina-que-protagonizara-el-mes-de-enero_97230) over the last few months after impressing in Brazil since joining from Boca Juniors last year.

He has 12 goals in 24 games and is seemingly a natural fit in the dynamic young side countryman Mauricio Pochettino has crafted at the Lane during his tenure in charge of the club.

Now, Guillermo Calleri – the player’s father and agent – has [apparently](https://twitter.com/BrasileiraoBlog/status/734730340846206976?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) revealed his son has a [‘verbal agreement’](https://twitter.com/BrasileiraoBlog/status/734730340846206976?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) to move to Spurs over the course of the summer.

A dynamic and versatile attacker, the Argentine could provide a high quality backup to star man Harry Kane ahead of the adventure into the European elite next term.
