# Arsenal blow as Sevilla close-in on important signing

[![Krychowiak](https://cdn.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Krychowiak-500x324.jpg)](https://cdn.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Krychowiak.jpg?admin)Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are sipping pints in sorrow after reports that emerged on the continent suggested the Gunners will miss-out on a prime transfer target.

Local media outlet [*Estadio Deportivo* declare that Sevilla are ‘close’ to agreeing a new contract with Gregorz Krychowiak](https://www.estadiodeportivo.com/sevilla/2015/10/27/renovacion-krychowiak-cerca/52840.html), who many of our regulars believe would be the perfect January addition to Arsenal’s midfield.

Significant progress has been made with the Polish international after Sevilla [dropped their insistence a release clause of €45m was added](https://www.estadiodeportivo.com/sevilla/2015/10/27/renovacion-krychowiak-cerca/52840.html) to the contract, which Krychowiak’s representatives were not happy with; believing it limited his future options.

Whilst the Premier League seems to be his destination in the future, and Arsenal favourites for his signature in the long-term, the new deal would hand Sevilla a huge boost in negotiations by securing him with the club until 2020.

Krychowiak’s[new clause will not be has high as €45m](https://www.estadiodeportivo.com/sevilla/2015/10/27/renovacion-krychowiak-cerca/52840.html) but Arsenal will still have to part with a heavy amount of cash to secure the midfielder’s services, whilst interest in the player could rise after Poland’s Euro 2016 campaign next summer.
