# Arsenal: Club in contract talks with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette

**Arsenal have opened contract talks with striking duo Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette, [according to The Daily Mail.](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-7372841/Arsenal-news-Club-offer-Alexandre-Lacazette-Pierre-Emerick-Aubameyang-jackpot-deals.html)**

The new potential deals are said to include ‘huge’ pay rises should the club qualify for the [Champions League](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-7372841/Arsenal-news-Club-offer-Alexandre-Lacazette-Pierre-Emerick-Aubameyang-jackpot-deals.html) this season.

The potential pay hike would be in addition to bonuses received by the duo if Arsenal qualify for the Champions League.

The two are already among the high earners at the Emirates Stadium, with [Lacazette](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-7372841/Arsenal-news-Club-offer-Alexandre-Lacazette-Pierre-Emerick-Aubameyang-jackpot-deals.html) currently earning £140,000 per week, while [Aubameyang](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-7372841/Arsenal-news-Club-offer-Alexandre-Lacazette-Pierre-Emerick-Aubameyang-jackpot-deals.html) earns close to £200,000 per week.

The reports come off the back of yet another season of failure for the Gooners last term, as they were consigned to a third consecutive season of Europa League football. A [fifth-place finish](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/48165987) and a [4-1 hammering in the Europa League final](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/48368406) saw the North London side fail to qualify for the Champions League yet again.

The forward duo proved to be quite crucial for the club last season, scoring a total of [48 goals in the Premier League and Europa League](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/13/Archive/England-Arsenal?stageId=16786) as the club reached the final in Baku.

Additional statistics only further strengthen any argument surrounding the attacking ability of the two internationals.

In the Premier League, Aubameyang and Lacazette averaged the [most shots per game](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/13/Archive/England-Arsenal?stageId=16368). In the Europa League, the Gabon international also averaged the most shots[(3.9)](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/13/Archive/England-Arsenal?stageId=16786), while his French teammate was the most fouled player to have played more than five games in the competition [(2.1) (via WhoScored).](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/13/Archive/England-Arsenal?stageId=16786)

Lacazette and Aubameyang are by far Arsenal’s best players, and new contracts are the least they should be awarded for their contributions to the team. It would be a shame if after acquiring their services, they were to lose them to big clubs in Europe for free like they did with [Aaron Ramsey.](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/47203118)
