# Arsenal eye up world-class striker as title chances gain momentum

[![Lewandowski](https://cdn.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/4582584-500x319.jpg)](https://cdn.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/4582584.jpg?admin)There is a real buzz in the Football Transfer Tavern today amongst the Arsenal fans, with a fair few pints being spilled. This excitement comes after the [Metro](https://metro.co.uk/2015/07/23/arsenal-want-robert-lewandowski-transfer-as-karim-benzema-alternative-says-kike-marin-5308739/) are reporting that if a £31.3 million bid for Karim Benzema fails, the man Arsene Wenger will look to bring in is none other than Robert Lewandowski.

[Metro](https://metro.co.uk/2015/07/23/arsenal-want-robert-lewandowski-transfer-as-karim-benzema-alternative-says-kike-marin-5308739/) revealed just this morning that a plan to land the signing of  ‘secret striker’ was the current Bayern Munich hit man, Lewandowski, this [according to Spanish Journalist Kike Marin](https://metro.co.uk/2015/07/23/arsenal-want-robert-lewandowski-transfer-as-karim-benzema-alternative-says-kike-marin-5308739/).

However, with the Polish international who has previously been courted by Manchester United, thought to have a price tag in the region of £44.7 million, it would surely be a far too costly acquisition to be seen as a ‘back-up’.

Our pub landlord doesn’t fancy the Gunners chances of landing the Bayern man: “all due respect to Arsenal, but why would you leave to come here? Bayern are one of the best in the world right now – he would be man to quit that club!”.

One positive the Arsenal faithful in here today are taking is [talk from Lewandowski’s agent last month](https://metro.co.uk/2015/07/14/robert-lewandowskis-agent-opens-door-for-manchester-united-transfer-5295808/)that if he did move away from Germany, England would be his destination.

**Gunners what do you think? Benzema or Lewandowski? Do you have a chance of getting either of them? Let us know in the comments!**
