# Arsenal: Fans angry with Unai Emery after his comments on Southampton

**Arsenal fans are angry with manager Unai Emery after the Spaniard was complimentary of Saturday’s opponents Southampton.**

In his pre-match press conference, Emery said that the Saints are good away from home and that they will be motivated for the game at the weekend [(via Islington Gazzette)](https://www.islingtongazette.co.uk/sport/football/arsenal/emery-expecting-tough-southampton-test-as-arsenal-boss-talks-xhaka-and-getting-the-club-s-backing-1-6387945).

The comments from the Basque-born coach come just under a month after the Saints were thrashed 9-0 by Leicester City in the Premier League [(via BBC)](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/50092694).

Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men are in a terrible run of form of late and have won none of their last seven games in all competitions [(via WhoScored)](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/18/Show/England-Southampton).

Meanwhile, the Gunners are also in a run of bad form having gone their [last five games in all competitions](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/13/Fixtures/England-Arsenal) without a win.

Saturday’s encounter comes amidst reports that Emery has until the new year to save his job in north London, [according to The Sun](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/10326380/unai-emery-arsenal-job-new-year/).

Fans are angry with the 48-year-old as they took to Twitter to launch a scathing attack on him.
