**Many Arsenal fans have reacted to their club being linked to Olympiacos winger Daniel Podence.**

\[freshpress-poll id=”252808″\]

The Portuguese winger has been linked to the Gunners by [Portuguese outlet A Bola.](https://www.abola.pt/nnh/Noticias/Ver/810129)

Two Arsenal fan accounts in [@GurjitAFC](https://twitter.com/GurjitAFC/status/1184453512647888896) and [@AFCSource](https://twitter.com/afcSource/status/1184483092255444995) have written tweets about the alleged rumours, to which many Arsenal fans have responded with their personal opinions – and there is quite a mix.

[The 23-year-old](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/daniel-podence/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/256977) started his professional career at Sporting Lisbon but failed to nail down a regular place in the first team, registering 40 appearances for them and scoring no goals — though he did manage to gain 12 assists.

Podence’s career ended at Sporting after he terminated his contract following the violent attacks on players from their own supporters. Despite going on to win the Taca da Liga and finishing third in the league, [several players were attacked](https://en.as.com/en/2018/05/15/football/1526413343_228152.html) by around 50 fans at the club training ground. Following this, several players terminated their own contracts, including Rui Patricio, William Carvalho and Gelson Martins, allowing them to move on.

Podence then moved to Greece at the beginning of the [18/19](https://www.transfermarkt.com/daniel-podence/leistungsdaten/spieler/256977) season, signing a five-year deal with Olympiacos. While he could not help the club win the Super League in his first season, he has impressed since being at the club, scoring [10](https://www.transfermarkt.com/daniel-podence/leistungsdaten/spieler/256977) times and [assisting as many in his first 55 games](https://www.transfermarkt.com/daniel-podence/leistungsdaten/spieler/256977).

Furthermore, he has also endorsed himself to the Arsenal fans by scoring a goal against Tottenham during their Champions League match, which finished 2-2.

There was a mixed response from Arsenal fans, with some not entirely convinced, while others even compared him to Eden Hazard and encouraged the club to make a move.

Here are some of the replies below…

> Ok, but why do we need to be buying a winger now when we have Nelson, Saka, and Martinelli to use.
