# Arsenal: Fans believe Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s goal versus Aston Villa should win goal of the month

**Plenty of Arsenal fans believe Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s goal against Aston Villa should be the club’s goal of the month for September.**

The Gabon international struck a brilliant free-kick in the dying embers of the game against the Midlands side as the Gunners came from behind to win 3-2.

Aston Villa struck in the first-half after a goal from John McGinn, with Arsenal then having Ainsley Maitland-Niles sent-off for a second bookable offence.

Unai Emery’s side equalised through a penalty from Nicolas Pepe, before Wesley put the Villans back in front. Goals from Calum Chambers and Aubameyang then won the game for Arsenal [(via BBC)](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49705154).

The Gabon international has proved a potent force for the north London side since joining from Borussia Dortmund, having the second-best minutes per goal ratio in Premier League history [(via Planet Football)](https://www.planetfootball.com/quick-reads/seven-stats-to-show-pierre-emerick-aubameyangs-incredible-form/).

Aubameyang has already struck seven goals in the first seven games of the league season, the first Arsenal player to do so since Dennis Bergkamp back in the 1997/1998 campaign [(via Goal)](https://www.goal.com/en/news/pierre-emerick-aubameyang-equals-dennis-bergkamps-22-year/1g9xjqx6ts7yw1aa4uwpp3hnba).

The Gabonese forward has been chosen by the north London faithful following his free-kick as they took to Twitter to react.
