# Arsenal: Fans drool over Axel Disasi who is Dayot Upamecano alternative

**Some Arsenal fans have been drooling over the potential signing of Axel Disasi after the north London club reportedly had a bid rejected by French side Reims in the January transfer window.**

According to [GFFN](https://twitter.com/GFFN) (via [RMC](https://rmc.bfmtv.com/)), the Gunners intend to accelerate talks in the coming days, as the central defender could provide a potentially cheaper alternative to long-term target Dayot Upamecano. who is also being chased by Real Madrid, as per [AS](https://as.com/futbol/2020/04/09/primera/1586447944_645101.html).

Comparing the two men in their respective domestic leagues this season, Disasi actually averages more clearances and blocks per match, according to [Whoscored](https://www.whoscored.com/PlayerComparison).

The 22-year old also wins 4.9 duels per Ligue 1 game, in addition to making 1.2 tackles and one interception on average, as per [Sofascore](https://www.sofascore.com/player/axel-disasi/827243).

Disasi may provide a cheaper alternative to Upamecano, who has been quoted to have a release clause of [£50 million](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/dayot-upamecano-transfer-race-takes-21847815) in his contract by various outlets.
