# Arsenal: Fans excited after Mikel Arteta’s comments on transfer activity

**Arsenal fans have been brimming with excitement after Mikel Arteta’s comments on the club’s transfer activity.**

Following the 1-0 win over Leeds United, the Spaniard came out and revealed that the north London giants are working on ‘a few things’ [(via The Mirror)](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/mikel-artetas-transfer-admission-suggests-21230943).

The comments are in stark contrast to what Raul Sanllehi had to say back in December on the January transfer window.

Arsenal’s head of football claimed that the winter window was not a [‘strategic’ one,](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/mikel-artetas-transfer-admission-suggests-21230943) however, Arteta’s comments now suggest there has been a dramatic U-turn.

Arteta’s comment go hand in hand with reports linking the club with a number of players including [Jerome Boateng](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/11901499/jerome-boateng-arsenal-enquire-about-transfer-fee-loan-chances-player-wages-with-bayern), [Thomas Lemar](https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/transfers/tottenham-news-thomas-lemar-transfer-loan-arsenal-atletico-madrid-latest-a9272441.html), [Nathan Ake](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2020/01/02/arsenal-join-january-battle-sign-nathan-ake-calum-chambers-injury/) and [Dayot Upamecano](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2020/01/02/arsenal-join-january-battle-sign-nathan-ake-calum-chambers-injury/).

Fans have been left feeling thrilled with the update from their head coach as they took to Twitter to react to the comments. Still, it’s also important to note that [some fans on Twitter](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league/arsenal/arsenal-fans-left-unhappy-after-update-on-potential-signings/) didn’t react to well to a [Goal](https://twitter.com/charles_watts/status/1214514974858600448?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet) report suggesting the club were keen on one or two loan additions, so it seems the January window is offering different feelings at the moment.
