# Arsenal: Fans excited after reports about RB Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano emerge

**The defence has been a worrying position for Arsenal this season with the club possessing a horrible record in terms of goals conceded. In just 24 games this campaign, Mikel Arteta’s team have let in 34 goals, the joint-seventh most in the [Premier League](https://www.premierleague.com/stats/top/clubs/goals_conceded).**

The Gunners took steps to add more options last month as they completed the loan signing of [Pablo Mari](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51293247) from Flamengo. However, it seems as though they won’t stop there as they were linked, [once again](https://www.bild.de/bild-plus/sport/fussball/fussball/bundesligia-klub-lehnt-arsenal-angebot-ueber-60-millionen-ab-63767592,view=conversionToLogin.bild.html), with a move for RB Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano.

[According to Bild](https://www.bild.de/sport/fussball/fussball/rb-leipzigs-upamecano-wer-leistet-sich-den-super-franzosen-68744308.bild.html), the Gunners are very interested in the France youth international, who has so far refused to sign a new deal. The [German publication](https://www.bild.de/sport/fussball/fussball/rb-leipzigs-upamecano-wer-leistet-sich-den-super-franzosen-68744308.bild.html) go one step further by claiming that he prefers a move to the Premier League and that he’d be available for €60m (roughly £50m) this summer. In comparison to Arsenal’s options, the [21-year-old](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/327721/Show/Dayot-Upamecano) averages more tackles per league game than any of the [side’s centre-backs](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/13/Show/England-Arsenal), as per WhoScored.
