# Arsenal: Fans excited over reports about Dayot Upamecano

**Arsenal fans are excited over reports concerning summer transfer target Dayot Upamecano.**

According to reports in Kicker [(via Twitter)](https://twitter.com/afcSource/status/1184859941980520450), the France youth international has no intention over renewing his contract at Red Bull Leipzig.

The north London giants were chasing the player in the summer and were reported by [Bild](https://www.bild.de/bild-plus/sport/fussball/fussball/bundesligia-klub-lehnt-arsenal-angebot-ueber-60-millionen-ab-63767592,view=conversionToLogin.bild.html) to have bid €60m (£51.8m) for Upamecano.

It was also reported by Football Leaks [(via Metro)](https://metro.co.uk/2019/10/17/arsenal-handed-boost-dayot-upamecano-pursuit-failed-summer-transfer-bid-10938978/) that the 20-year-old had a €100m (£86.3m) in his contract last year and that it goes down by €20m (roughly £17.2m) every year. This means the player is theoretically available next summer for €60m.

After their failed pursuit of Upamecano, Arsenal seemingly turned their attention to David Luiz, who they signed for just £8m from Premier League rivals Chelsea [(via BBC)](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49275919).

Fans took to Twitter to react with excitement over the news of a potential move for the player.

Here is a selection of tweets from the north London faithful:
