# Arsenal: Fans fume at Venkatesham apology

**Arsenal chief executive Vinai Venkatesham apologised to the whole first-team squad following the European Super League saga, the [Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/arsenal-european-super-league-vinai-23954403) report.**

And, as to be expected, the behind-the-scenes update has had plenty of Gunners fans talking on social media.

Arsenal were one of [six Premier League sides to sign up to the new competition over the weekend](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/56795811), with all English clubs [withdrawing their interest on Tuesday evening](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/56823501) after severe backlash all across the country.

The [Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/arsenal-european-super-league-vinai-23954403) claim that Venkatesham addressed Arsenal’s squad at London Colney training ground on Wednesday morning alongside boss Mikel Arteta.

The [report](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/arsenal-european-super-league-vinai-23954403) reveals that CEO Venkatesham was quizzed by several Gunners stars following the meeting as to why they weren’t told prior to the announcement.
