# Arsenal: Fans laud Pablo Mari after he completes his long-awaited transfer from Flamengo

**Arsenal fans have been going crazy over Pablo Mari after the club confirmed the completion of his long-awaited transfer from Brazilian side Flamengo, leading to comparisons with other big centre-back signings.**

In a short video posted on their Twitter account, the north London outfit welcomed the 26-year-old, who has joined on an initial loan deal. The move has experienced its ups and downs on the way to completion with the defender having arrived for a medical before returning to Brazil. That was followed by a report from [ESPN](https://www.espn.com/soccer/soccer-transfers/story/4041620/arsenal-deal-to-sign-flamengos-pablo-mari-collapses-sources) which claimed a deal had collapsed after the Serie A side opposed the terms laid out by the Emirates Stadium giants.

One fan showed his appreciation for the centre-half by comparing him to Harry Maguire.

Mari isn’t a stranger to English supporters after he completed a permanent transfer to Manchester City from Spanish side Gimastic for just £180k back in 2016 [(via Transfermarkt)](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/pablo-mari/transfers/spieler/210178). Fans were left lavishing the player with praise after his move to the team was confirmed as they reacted. Here is a selection of tweets from the north London faithful:
