# Arsenal: Fans loved David Luiz’s pass in the lead-up to Pierre-Aubameyang goal at Crystal Palace

**Arsenal defender David Luiz was hailed by a number of Gunners fans on Twitter for his involvement in his team’s goal this afternoon.**

In the 12th minute of the 1-1 draw at Crystal Palace, the Brazilian played an inviting, perfectly weighted pass through to Mesut Ozil, who fed Alexandre Lacazette to play in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to open the scoring at Selhurst Park. Luiz also had a central role in the home side’s equaliser, with Jordan Ayew’s shot deflecting off him on its way into the Arsenal net eight minutes into the second half. \[[via Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football/c-palace-vs-arsenal/408194)\]

The Brazil defender played 88 passes for the Gunners this afternoon, the most of anyone in Mikel Arteta’s line-up, and ended the day with a passing success rate of 83%. He made abundant use of the long ball against the Eagles, with 22 such passes (15 of which found a team-mate) almost twice as many as the next-most regular long passer Sokratis Papastathopoulos. \[[via WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1376096/LiveStatistics/England-Premier-League-2019-2020-Crystal-Palace-Arsenal)\]

These Arsenal fans on Twitter were keen to applaud Luiz for his pinpoint pass in Aubameyang’s first half goal at Selhurst Park today:

> That is absolutely class from everyone. Luiz with the perfect penetrative pass. Özil with the perfect touch. We’re gonna win the league.

> Simple straight forward pass. If he can’t make that then he wouldn’t be a footballer. Luiz deserves all the credit for that goal
