# Arsenal: Fans react to Kieran Tierney injury update

**Some Arsenal fans have been reacting to news about defender Kieran Tierney and his fitness.**

Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of the north London club’s FA Cup fifth-round tie against Portsmouth, Mikel Arteta confirmed that the 22-year-old is closing in on a return following [the shoulder injury](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/50740715) he picked up at the end of 2019. As reported by Goal’s [Charles Watts](https://twitter.com/charles_watts/status/1233745841942401027?s=20), the Arsenal boss said: “He’s much closer, he feels fit, he feels confident. Hopefully we can have him soon.”

In the former Celtic man’s absence, winger Bukayo Saka has since been moved to the left-back position and has not disappointed there. The 18-year-old has been a real attacking threat down the left flank, providing an assist in Arsenal’s last Premier League outing [against Everton](https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1376115/Live/England-Premier-League-2019-2020-Arsenal-Everton) and averaging the [joint-second most dribbles](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/13/Show/England-Arsenal) per game in the squad (via WhoScored), so Tierney faces real competition when he returns.

Nevertheless, a lot of Arsenal fans were glad with Arteta’s update as they took to Twitter to react. Take a look at what they had to say below…

> Start Hector, Rob, Pablo and KT, that would be a strong back line.
