# Arsenal: Fans react to latest Thomas Partey transfer development

**Loads of Arsenal fans are reacting to the latest transfer developments regarding Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey after [The Guardian](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2020/apr/20/atletico-madrid-offer-thomas-partey-new-deal-to-fend-off-arsenal-interest) revealed that the north London club have expressed the strongest interest in the central midfield player.**

As per the article, the Gunners are yet to submit an official bid although they have apparently made contact with the player’s agent regarding a possible move.

However, the Spanish giants have reportedly offered Partey a new deal until 2025, which would increase his salary and release clause. Diego Simeone is desperate to keep the 26-year old at the club and has apparently urged the hierarchy to offer him a deal that would enable him to stay.

However, that may not stop AFC making a move. The Ghanaian international would arguably be a good fit for their starting eleven, as his ability to break up play could be utilised to give others a licence to go forward.

Partey has won 6.6 duels per La Liga match this season, and also averages 2.1 tackles, 1.4 interceptions and 1.2 clearances, according to [Sofascore](https://www.sofascore.com/player/thomas-partey/316148).

These Gooners reacted to the news after hearing about it on [Twitter](https://twitter.com/AFTVMedia/status/1252522562938175494):
