# Arsenal: Fans say Unai Emery was right about ‘dreadful’ Mesut Ozil

**Loads of Arsenal fans are slamming Mesut Ozil after his display against West Ham United, in which he lost possession 15 times, per [Sofascore](https://www.sofascore.com/arsenal-west-ham-united/MR).**

The Gunners ended a run of [nine matches](https://www.sofascore.com/arsenal-west-ham-united/MR) without a win in all competitions, thanks to a phenomenal nine-minute spell in which Freddie Ljungberg’s refreshed side scored three times.

The Hammers had taken a first-half lead courtesy of Angelo Ogbonna, but Gabriel Martinelli scored his first Premier League goal before Nicolas Pepe and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang wrapped up the three points for the visitors.

One man who didn’t impress though was Germany international Ozil, who was of course left out in the cold by former manager Unai Emery.

Per [Sofascore](https://www.sofascore.com/arsenal-west-ham-united/MR), the 31 year-old lost possession 15 times and won just two out of seven duels. He did make two key passes, but that didn’t stop fans from crucifying his display.

Plenty of supporters flocked to Twitter to say that Emery was right to practically dispose of Ozil, and you can find some of the best Twitter reactions down below…

> Ozil has always been dreadful. Wondered how he managed to gain sympathy when Emery froze him out. That decision was definitely one of the only things Emery got right.
