# Arsenal: Fans unhappy after transfer reports concerning Norwegian defender

**Arsenal fans have been voicing their displeasure after the club were linked with a move for a Norwegian defender who plays for Olympiakos.**

[According to The Guardian](https://www.theguardian.com/football/live/2020/jan/31/transfer-deadline-day-the-latest-on-mertens-giroud-rondon-and-more-live), the Gunners enquired about right-back Omar Elabdellaoui, however, were put off by the price being quoted by the Greek team. The publication also claimed that Arsenal’s [Europa League](https://www.theguardian.com/football/live/2020/jan/31/transfer-deadline-day-the-latest-on-mertens-giroud-rondon-and-more-live) opponents didn’t want to sell the player to a team they would be facing.

When compared to the club’s right-backs, [Elabdellaoui](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/94936/Show/Omar-Elabdellaoui) averaged a higher pass accuracy in the Champions League than [Hector Bellerin and Ainsley Maitland-Niles](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/13/Show/England-Arsenal) did in the Europa League, as per WhoScored. It seems as though the north London outfit had a back-up plan after they confirmed the signing of experienced Premier League fullback Cedric Soares from Southampton on a loan deal.

Fans were left feeling displeased with the reports about the player as they took to Twitter to react to the report. Here is a selection of tweets from the Emirates Stadium faithful:
