For Gunners fans who like to wear their favourite players’ name and number on the back of their shirt, they could well be excited to see one youth prospect set for a new number which many legends have worn before him.

Many great Arsenal players have worn the number seven shirt, including Robert Pires, Ray Parlour and Paul Merson, and the fact that he has been given this number at the tender age of 18 shows how much the club and Mikel Arteta rate the player.
After an impressive first season as an Arsenal regular, it is no shock to see the manager rate him so highly, as he has played on the left flank in both midfield and defence, making 38 appearances in all competitions, per Transfermarkt.
Even at his young age, he is already valued at £18m by Transfermarkt, and his good performances highlight why he value is already so lofty for a teenager.
In his 38 appearances this season, he has scored four goals and supplied 10 assists, per WhoScored, whilst managing 1.3 tackles, 1.4 key passes and 1.1 successful dribbles per game.
Saka’s statistics show that he has been a revelation this season, while the change of shirt number from 77 to seven seemingly reflects his new-found status as a first team mainstay.
Hopefully he can finish this season well and help Arsenal lift the FA Cup before continuing his good form into next season under Arteta – he certainly seems to have a solid platform upon which to build.
