Arsenal broke the news on Thursday that Bukayo Saka would be wearing the number seven shirt next season when they launched their new home shirt.

This is a big move and highlights how highly rated the 18 year-old is at the Gunners. He emerged onto the scene in the Premier League this season filling in at left-back whilst Kieran Tierney was injured.

This is not even his favoured position, and since the Scottish international has returned, Saka has been able to play where he prefers, which is as a left midfielder/winger.

He has excelled, making 38 appearances this season, scoring four goals and supplying 10 assists, per WhoScored, whilst managing 1.3 tackles, 1.4 key passes and 1.1 successful dribbles per game.

This has clearly not gone unnoticed as the two nations that he could play for, England and Nigeria are both hoping he plays for them, with Nigeria recently accelerating their plans and aiming to call up Saka to their squad as soon as possible in the hope that he picks them, per The Daily Mail.

Since it was announced he has been given a new shirt number, the player has posted on

Clearly the player is just as excited as fans to be playing next season with the new number which has been worn by Arsenal legends like Robert Pires and Alexis Sanchez.

If the player can continue to perform like he has this season, then the potential he has to become world class is there for all to see.
