Arsenal have been linked recently with attacking midfielder Orkun Kokcu, and the club have now received a very positive update following comments from Feyenoord’s director.
The 19 year-old attacking midfielder currently plays for Dutch side Feyenoord and he has been compared with Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil, per The Express. The same media outlet also suggest that Mikel Arteta sees the teenager as the ideal long-term replacement for the German.
Director Mark Koevermans said to Algemeen Dagblad, via the Express: “If Feyenoord are hit financially by the coronavirus crisis and the next winter break some clubs suddenly offer you €7m – which would have been too little in a normal market. You take it then? It’s tricky, though.”
Would Kokcu be a good signing?
These comments seem to highlight that Arsenal might be able to get Kokcu for cheaper than they were planning and it could be an interesting deal for the North London side to complete.
The player has become one of the first names on the team sheet at his current club, having made 28 appearances this season, including in the Europa League. On average he has managed 1.8 shots, 1.6 key passes and 1.2 successful dribbles per game, via WhoScored.
To be producing such statistics in a very competitive level at such a young age highlights that this player has a lot of creative quality and he could become a really good attacking midfielder once he reaches his prime.

With Ozil now 31 years-old and coming to the last few seasons of his career, signing Kokcu now would be ideal because he can learn more from the German and then replace him when needed.
