Arsenal are not in contact with Dusan Vlahovic’s representatives over a potential January move, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Lowdown: Vlahovic speculation

The Gunners appear to be on the search for an attacking addition in the New Year after an injury blow to star striker Gabriel Jesus.

Reports in recent days linked Mikel Arteta’s side with a move for Vlahovic, with speculation the club are speaking to the Juventus man’s representatives once more. However, that doesn’t appear to be the case, with Romano providing an update.

The Latest: Romano’s comments

In his daily briefing for CaughtOffside, Romano shared what he’s been told regarding Vlahovic, insisting there is no contact at this stage, while also providing an update on another target, Shakhtar Donetsk's Mykhaylo Mudryk.

“Dusan Vlahovic speculation goes on. I’m told there are no contacts with Arsenal as things stand, then let’s see in January but it’s quiet now. Vlahovic is focused on recovering from his injury, this is a key point; he’s not 100% fit yet. I think Vlahovic is always a good idea for top clubs but Juventus should not sell him after just 11 months.

“At the moment it's Arsenal pushing for Mykhaylo Mudryk but there's still no advanced negotiation on the fee.”

The Verdict: Could be key

Jesus could be out of action for around three months in what will be a crucial period for the Gunners, who currently lead the way at the top of the Premier League by five points.

Arteta will know how demanding the second half of the season will be, though, so landing a marquee forward in January could be vital.

A swoop for Mudryk instead of Vlahovic seems to be more likely at this stage, so that may well be one to watch heading into 2023.
