Arsenal will also be without exciting young midfielder Emile Smith Rowe against FC Zurich tonight as journalist Charles Watts shares an update.

The Lowdown: Gunners dealt blows...

Mikel Arteta's high-flyers have started this season's Premier League campaign with a flourish, seriously impressing with a few real goalscoring displays of attacking free-flow.

The north Londoners bagged a brilliant 14 goals over their opening six domestic matches, and despite losing to Man United at Old Trafford recently, they look in solid shape.

Attention now turns to their Europa League campaign and opening group encounter against FC Zurich but Arteta will be without a few key players.

The Latest: Smith Rowe doesn't travel...

Indeed, as shared by Gunners correspondent Watts for Goal.com, Arsenal will be without Smith Rowe alongside the likes of Cedric and Thomas Partey.

He explained:

"Strong Arsenal squad has flown out to Zurich for tomorrow’s Europa League opener - Partey, Smith Rowe and Cedric didn’t travel due to injury."

The Verdict: Setback for Arteta...

Tonight's match against Zurich would've been a prime opportunity to hand Smith Rowe in particular some much-needed minutes given he has played just 48 in the league so far over 2022/2023 (WhoScored).

Alas, Arteta will not be able to call upon the bright homegrown talent, who has been revered by certain sections of the media.

Among them, Sky pundit Jamie Carragher has lavished the 22-year-old as an 'exciting' and 'special' player - with it being hard to disagree considering he grabbed ten goals and two assists in the top flight last season.

Smite Rowe could've grabbed valuable minutes this evening to maintain his momentum but it appears the midfield ace will have to wait get back to full speed.
