Fabrizio Romano has insisted on his YouTube channel that Gabriel Martinelli's new Arsenal contract does indeed contain an option to extend it beyond 2027.

The Lowdown: Martinelli duly rewarded

After a very successful transfer window that saw Mikel Arteta handed two new first-team players and one of them was Champions League and European Championship winner Jorginho which will surely only help their title bid.

This is because his success and experience at winning silverware will go a long way to keeping people such as Bukayo Saka and Martinelli, who've not won anything with the Gunners, as calm as possible.

Arsenal certainly didn't need to do a whole lot of business in January because of how well their young squad had been performing at including Martinelli who's now been rewarded with a new deal, Gunners fans will be delighted about what's happening both on and off the pitch.

The Latest: Arsenal have Martinelli for the long haul

It's been announced that Martinelli has penned a new long-term deal with the Gunners and Romano has confirmed some information about how there is an option for Arsenal to extend his deal by a further year and protect their asset.

He said: (1:38) "The contract will be until June 2027, so four and a half year deal with, I'm told, an option to extend for a further season, so guaranteed until 2027, option until 2028 and this is the agreement between Arsenal and Gabriel Martinelli."

The Verdict: Huge boost for Arsenal

Being able to ensure Martinelli's long-term future will indeed be with the Gunners will be huge news for both Arteta and the Arsenal fanbase as they look to keep this group of players together and compete for many league titles to come.

However, that is not the only good news for Arsenal as it's being reported that Bukayo Saka and William Saliba - two fellow young stars of the season - are going to be the next players to commit their future to the club.

Getting Saka tied down for many more years will be a huge priority for Arteta as the maverick winger has registered 34 goal involvements across all competitions since the start of last season and is reportedly attracting interest from Manchester City.
