Arsenal have reached an agreement in principle over a new contract for Bukayo Saka, according to Football Insider.

The Lowdown: Current deal

Saka, hailed as a ‘revelation’ by former Gunners midfielder Ray Parlour, is under contract until 2024. The 21-year-old has been a regular at the Emirates over the last three years and has now made 140 appearances for the club.

The England international is thought to be one of the lowest first-team earners on £30,000-a-week at this moment in time, with speculation over an improved deal picking up over the summer.

The Latest: New contract

FI shared a story on Wednesday morning regarding Saka and a fresh deal.

They revealed that an agreement has been reached in principle and a new ‘mega-money’ contract is close. The player will earn almost £200,000-a-week alongside top earners Gabriel Jesus and Thomas Partey.

The Verdict: Good news

As FI mention, a new deal for Saka will come as a ‘huge boost’ to Arsenal supporters and will only add to the feel-good factor around north London.

It’s easy to forget that Saka is still just 21 and already has plenty of experience at the highest level for club and country.

There have been rumours over a move to Manchester City, with Arsenal recently ‘worried’ regarding interest from Pep Guardiola’s side, but it looks as if Saka will remain at the Emirates for the foreseeable future, or at the very least command a colossal fee if he goes anywhere.
