Arsenal are now thought to be interested in signing Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga, according to The Evening Standard’s Simon Collings.

The Lowdown: Camavinga profiled

Camavinga made the move to the Bernabeu back in 2021 from Rennes and has gone on to make 66 appearances for the Spanish giants.

Still just 20 years of age, the France international can play as a holding or central midfielder and is sponsored by Nike. The left-footed player also shares the same agency as Arsenal pair Kieran Tierney and Rob Holding and is valued at €50m by Transfermarkt.

The Latest: Arsenal keen

Collings took to Twitter on Friday evening to share what he’s heard about a possible move for Camavinga.

The journalist said that the Gunners are ‘interested in a loan move’ during the current window, but it is unclear if Real Madrid would agree to a temporary deal. Collings added that West Ham’s Declan Rice is still the first-choice summer target for midfield.

The Verdict: Edu in overdrive

Sporting director Edu Gaspar has been a busy man in recent days, with Leandro Trossard joining from Brighton. Defender Jakub Kiwior also looks set to make the move to the Emirates from Spezia, so Camavinga could be a third signing in a short period of time.

Camavinga has started just five La Liga games so could feature more under Mikel Arteta, who has limited options in holding and central midfield. Albert Sambi Lokonga is the only out-and-out centre midfielder for the Gunners, so signing an exciting talent like Camavinga, who was nominated for the 2022 Golden Boy Award, could be a smart move as the club look to continue their push for the title.
