Arsenal: Mesut Ozil posts interesting message on Instagram following Man City omission

Arsenal: Mesut Ozil posts interesting message on Instagram following Man City omission - Arsenal News

When Arsenal’s team sheet came out prior to their 3-0 loss against Manchester City, there was a noticeable omission as Mesut Ozil was not on the starting eleven or even on the bench.

Ozil has struggled to consistently play in the squad this season and on various occasions has not even made the bench. He has only made 18 starts out of 28 Premier League games. It is clear why he hasn’t been selected for every game as the attacking midfielder has only managed one goal and two assists, per WhoScored.

Should Ozil leave the club?

Even though he hasn’t managed many goal contributions this season, the 31-year-old has averaged 2.1 key passes a game, which is the most in the Arsenal squad, so it is possibly a surprise that he wasn’t even on the bench. He has since posted on Instagram, which might puzzle the Arsenal fan base.

His Instagram post was a throwback picture of him holding the Arsenal badge on his shirt, with the caption, ‘No matter what … #M1Ö @Arsenal‘.

This post seems to show that even though he did not make the squad, he is happy and loves the North London club, but it does make you wonder whether something has gone on behind the scenes which has led to him losing favour with Arteta.

Rumours have suggested he could depart and his lack of game time could impact his decision, no matter how he feels about the club. His situation is certainly a confusing one and this message from the German is likely to have Gunners fans scratching their heads once again.
