There are now just five days remaining until Arsenal return to Premier League action against reigning champions Manchester City and, with anticipation growing, it looks like Mesut Ozil is as excited as any supporter for next week’s fixture.
Ozil has struggled this season and has only made 18 starts out of 28 Premier League games. It is clear why he hasn’t been selected for every game as the ex-Real Madrid attacking midfielder has only managed one goal and two assists, per WhoScored.
However, his latest Instagram makes you wonder whether he might be starting for the Gunners in their huge game against Manchester City. He looks to be teasing Arsenal fans with the suggestion that he could be playing next week. Ozil had started in a succession of Premier League games before the season was postponed and it seems that Mikel Arteta rates the player highly.
Even though he hasn’t managed many goal contributions this season, the 31-year-old has averaged 2.1 key passes a game, which is the most in the Arsenal squad. Hopefully he can provide more goals alongside that creativity and he could yet be the vital player who could unlock opposition defences once the Gunners get back into action.
Arsenal fans, do you think Ozil could have a big part to play in the Gunners’ remaining fixtures this season? Share your views in the comments section below!
