It looked like Arsenal supporters had seen the last of loanee Pablo Mari when he limped off against Manchester City, but recent news suggests otherwise.
Speaking about the signing, the Gunners’ technical director Edu said: “With Pablo we’re all disappointed he got injured at Manchester City. Since Mikel arrived here he was asking for a central defender who was left-footed.
“We were really pleased with Pablo – his behaviour, the way he is training, his mentality and his quality. Unfortunately, he has that injury but of course we are really happy to keep him for the future.”
The centre-back has signed a four-year deal and hopefully will be able to show supporters his quality by the time next season starts.
The Brazillian has played twice in the Premier League and unfortunately was one of those who had to come off in the first half at the Etihad Stadium last week. However, in his debut Premier League appearance against West Ham in March, he received a 7.2 rating whilst making eight clearances, two tackles and winning both of his ground duels, per SofaScore.
Also, he is at a good age for a four-year deal as he is only 26 years old and could well be about to hit the peak years of his career. This deal looks to be a clever one from the Gunners and hopefully they can continue to do some more good business in the summer.
