Arsenal got a welcome victory against Southampton on Thursday as they won 2-0 at Southampton, their first win since the Premier League returned this month.
The goals came from academy players Eddie Nketiah and Joe Willock, who have both been involved in the senior setup this season, and that may excite Arsenal supporters massively.
Former Gunners centre-back Sol Campbell was speaking after the game and was impressed by the performance and, in particular, the performance of goalscorer Nketiah.
Indeed it is hard to disagree with Campbell on Nketiah’s display, which was summed up by his goal as he put pressure on goalkeeper Alex McCarthy, who gifted to ball to the Arsenal striker and the youngster duly finished into an open net.
He received a 7.1 rating on SofaScore, one of the highest of anyone involved in the match, and his in-game stats summed up his overall strong performance. He was successful with both of his dribble attempts whilst also winning one aerial duel and three ground duels.
It will be interesting to see whether Arteta continues to favour him over Alexandre Lacazette but, based off of his performance against the Saints, it would be harsh if he wasn’t in the next team selection.
