Arsenal are looking to bolster their attacking options at the club, judging by their transfer links with an exciting young winger from the Championship.
According to the Daily Mail, recently-promoted Leeds United are keeping an eye on Said Benrahma’s situation at Brentford, with Chelsea and Arsenal very interested in the winger also.
Benrahma currently plays at Brentford, who had to settle for a place in the play-offs after losing to Barnsley on the final day of the Championship season.
If the Bees get promoted, the attacker will most likely stay at the club. However, if they fail to go up through the play-offs, then he could well jump ship to end up in the Premier League next season.
The 24 year-old has shown his quality and the potential he could possess as he has played 43 times in the Championship this term, scoring 17 goals and picking up eight assists, via WhoScored. He also boasts plenty of attacking intent and confidence as he has averaged 3.9 shots, 2.1 key passes and 3.1 successful dribbles per game.
If you compare this with the Arsenal squad, he has averaged more shots per game than anyone at the Emirates Stadium, along with having the joint-most key passes and the most dribbles per game compared to the Gunners’ current options, per WhoScored.
Some might say this is due to him being in a lower division, but this only emphasises the fact that the Gunners should buy him.
If he can put up those figures for a team in the Championship, imagine what he could do in a side with Premier League quality players around him. Judging by his numbers compared to others in his position at Arsenal, he could be a tremendous addition to Mikel Arteta’s squad if they can land his signature.
