Arsenal reporter for football.london Kaya Kaynak says that a few details in Bukayo Saka's new contract still need to be 'ironed out'.

The Lowdown: Deal close

It has been reported that Saka is close to signing a new contract in North London, which would see him earn £200,000-per-week and be one of the club's highest earners.

The England international is thought to be convinced by the project under Mikel Arteta, with the principles of an agreement already in place.

The Latest: Details need ironing out

Speaking to GiveMeSport, Kaynak says that although 'positive' steps have been made in terms of Saka's deal, a few details still need to be 'ironed out' before it is finalised:

"Yeah, close. It's looking like positive steps have been made in terms of, there were positive meetings last week when all the stories came out about Saka having agreed a contract in principle with Arsenal.

"There's still a little bit to go and people I've spoken to have told me there's still a few details that need to be ironed out. So, it's not quite finalised yet.”

The Verdict: Get it done

With under two years left on his current contract at the Emirates Stadium, signing Saka to a new long-term deal is a no-brainer.

The winger has been one of Arsenal's key players in their Premier League title charge, with only Gabriel Martinelli (11) beating his ten goals in the top-flight, while no other player in the squad has matched his nine assists (WhoScored).

It is remarkable to think that he is still only 21 years of age, and so still has so much potential.

Nonetheless, Saka represents the success that the Gunners have had in terms of graduates from the Hale End in recent years, and they will want to keep him at the club for as long as possible.
