Transfer expert Dean Jones says that Arsenal are 'making inroads' on signing Eintracht Frankfurt defender Evan Ndicka.

The Lowdown: Agreement 'reached'

Italian news outlet Il Romanista claimed last week that Ndicka has 'already reached an agreement' with the Gunners after entering the final seven months of his contract at Frankfurt.

His situation means that he can sign a pre-contract agreement with a non-German club in the January transfer window, ahead of joining for free once his deal expires.

The Latest: Arsenal 'making inroads'

Speaking to GiveMeSport, Jones has shared that the Emirates Stadium outfit have been 'making inroads' on a deal for Ndicka for 'some time', after waiting on his contract situation at Frankfurt:

“They’ve been making inroads on this one for some time.

“They’ve really had to wait and hope that he didn’t sign a new deal with Frankfurt; I think they were trying to convince him to do that.”

The Verdict: Exciting times ahead

With news from The Athletic's David Ornstein that the Gunners are having 'conversations' over signing Mykhaylo Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk, and that he is their 'priority' in the January transfer window, these are exciting times for supporters.

Adding Mudryk should really strengthen their title charge, while they would also get a boost should they be able to capture the signing of Ndicka.

Although he would not join until the summer if he signs a pre-contract agreement, the left-footed central defender would provide healthy competition for Gabriel, having been hailed as an ‘exciting’ talent by Frankfurt journalist Christopher Michel being just 23 years of age.

Michel has also lauded his goal threat from centre-back as ‘enormous’, and his injury record as ‘incredible’, having scored an impressive 10 goals and made 10 assists in 162 games for Frankfurt (eight matches through injury since the 2018/19 season.

Nonetheless, signing Ndicka for no transfer fee is a no-brainer for Mikel Arteta's side.
