Arsenal are reportedly 'courting' Napoli winger Hirving Lozano ahead of a potential move.

The Lowdown: Attackers wanted

The Telegraph journalist Sam Dean shared on Friday morning that the Gunners 'remain confident' that Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhaylo Mudryk 'wants' to join the Premier League leaders, despite recent interest from London rivals Chelsea.

They are also thought to be 'stepping up' their interest in Atletico Madrid striker Joao Felix as they look to strengthen their attacking options in pursuit of the Premier League title.

The Latest: Lozano courted by Arsenal

As per La Repubblica, Mikel Arteta's side are also 'courting' Lozano ahead of a potential move to Arsenal, along with fellow top-flight rivals Newcastle United.

The Mexico international could leave Napoli at the end of the season, with his contract set to expire in 2024.

The Verdict: Avoid for now

Arsenal's priorities at the moment should be trying to get both Mudryk and Felix through the door now, rather than waiting until the summer to strengthen.

They already have injuries to Gabriel Jesus, Emile Smith Rowe and Reiss Nelson, and their lack of depth in attacking areas showed in their recent 0-0 draw at home to Newcastle, during which Arteta decided to make only one change from the bench.

There is no doubt that Lozano is a fine player, having won no fewer than 63 senior caps for his country Mexico, scoring 16 goals and supplying a further 11 assists (Transfermarkt), but he has never been as prolific for Napoli.

The 27-year-old has taken 134 games to reach 30 goals and 16 assists in Naples, including just four goals and three assists in all competitions so far this season (Transfermarkt).

In contrast, the Gunners' current wide options in Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli have an impressive 13 goals and eight assists between them in the Premier League alone so far, and have a much higher ceiling at 21 years of age.

Lozano shares a similar playing style to the pair, but Arsenal should be aiming higher than the Mexican.
