Arsenal: Gunners ‘set’ to hire Tottenham chief Chris Perkins
Alasdair Gold of football.london has said that Arsenal are ‘set’ to hire Tottenham’s emerging talent manager Chris Perkins.
The Lowdown: Arsenal top of Premier League
In the battle of north London, the Gunners are certainly the team coming out on top this season, sitting pretty at the top of the Premier League table and 14 points ahead of Spurs.
Arsenal have won both of their games in the league against Antonio Conte’s side in 2022/23 and look sure to finish above them, even if they do not go on to win the title.
The Latest: Perkins to make north London switch
Taking to Twitter, Gold says that Perkins is ‘set’ to make the switch from Tottenham to the Emirates Stadium, stating: “Understand Spurs’ outgoing emerging talent manager Chris Perkins, one of those responsible for bringing Will Lankshear to the club, is set to make the switch to Arsenal.”
Expanding in his corresponding article for football.london, the journalist adds that Perkins is set to take up a similar talent-spotting role with Arsenal.
The Verdict: Smart appointment
While Arsenal are in such a healthy position at the top of the table, it is important that they continue to progress the club, and that includes strengthening behind the scenes as well as on the pitch.
Perkins will help to continue spotting young talent who could eventually excel in the first team under Mikel Arteta, with the likes of 21-year-old duo Gabriel Martinelli and William Saliba both signed from overseas.
The Gunners boast the youngest average age in the Premier League (24.7), and Perkins will be on the lookout for more gems to add to the academy who could eventually make the senior squad at the Emirates Stadium.
