Arsenal picked up a 1-1 draw against third-placed Leicester City to extend their unbeaten run to five games in all competitions, and midfielder Dani Ceballos is starting to highlight that he is a vital part of Mikel Arteta’s plans as he put in another impressive performance last night.
The result puts Arsenal just two points behind sixth-placed Wolves prior to this evening’s matches and they could well have won the game if Eddie Nketiah was not sent off in the 75th minute with his team 1-0 to the good.
While Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had his name up in lights on the scoreboard with his goal to put Arsenal in front, one player who possibly went under the radar was Ceballos, who recently extended his loan at the club to make sure he could finish off the season with the Gunners.
In the middle of the pitch alongside Granit Xhaka, the 23-year-old managed to help the side break up opposition attacks and also create chances as he worked well at both ends of the pitch. For the 81 minutes that he played, the Real Madrid loanee managed to make three key passes and completed both of his dribble attempts successfully. He also won four ground duels as well as one aerial duel and made three interceptions, via SofaScore.
Arteta had recently been speaking about the future of Ceballos, who currently only has four games at the club left before his loan expires, and it seems like Arsenal are contemplating signing him in the summer, via The Guardian.
With performances like the one last night, it’s not hard to see why the Gunners want to keep him and, with Matteo Guendouzi seemingly not in Arteta’s future plans, Ceballos could spare Arsenal the need to seek out a midfield replacement for the French youngster.
