Unsung Hero: Dani Ceballos shone in Arsenal’s final Premier League game

Unsung Hero: Dani Ceballos shone in Arsenal’s final Premier League game - Arsenal News

Arsenal ended their campaign with a 3-2 victory over Watford on Sunday. Dani Ceballos was one of many players who put in a great performance in the win and we have taken a closer look at his performance against the Hornets in the latest edition of our Unsung Hero feature.

The result meant that Arsenal finished the campaign in eighth whilst their opponents were relegated to the Championship, per BBC Sport. Two goals came from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang which meant he finished the Premier League season on 22 goals, per Transfermarkt, whilst defender Kieran Tierney was also on the scoresheet.

However one player whose performance has gone under the radar a little bit is Ceballos, who again looked to be a great asset during the match in the middle of the pitch.

Would you sign Ceballos permanently?

His great performance can be backed by the stats. The Spaniard picked up a 7.3 rating, per SofaScore, which was the third best out of the Arsenal players. During the 72 minutes that he was on the pitch, he managed to be a good influence whilst Arsenal were attacking as he made two key passes and completed four accurate long balls. The midfielder won four ground duels and he also provided great support for the defence as he blocked on shot, made two interceptions, and also made one tackle.

He may have been trying to impress manager Mikel Arteta as it was his last game in the Premier League for the club before returning back to La Liga giants Real Madrid. However it has been reported that Ceballos would like a permanent move to North London and when he has such an influence at both ends of the pitch, he is surely making a great case for the Gunners to look to sign him in the transfer window.

It looks like Arteta rates him highly too as the 23 year-old has started every game in the division but one since the 16th February, per Transfermarkt.

Arsenal have one final game of their campaign left, which is a London derby against Chelsea in the FA Cup final, and if Ceballos wants to stay at the club, he will have to shine during this match and hopefully help the club come away with silverware.
