Arsenal claimed an emphatic 4-0 victory over Norwich in the Premier League yesterday, and captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang stole the headlines as he scored two and also picked up an assist. However Dani Ceballos produced a great display and we have taken a closer look at his performance against the Canaries in the latest edition of our Unsung Hero feature.
It has been a great seven days for Arsenal as they have beaten Southampton and Norwich in the Premier League, whilst also winning against Sheffield United in the FA Cup to advance to the semi-finals. These victories have come with the Gunners scoring eight goals and only conceding once.
Ceballos got the winner in the 90th minute against the Blades, and even though he didn’t score against Norwich, the Spaniard showed exactly why the club signed him on loan and extended his deal until the end of the season.
SofaScore gave him a 7.6 rating against Daniel Farke’s side, which was the third best on the pitch, he was only beaten by second highest rated Cedric Soares as he came on in the last 15 and picked up a goal.
Ceballos’ stats emphasise his great performance as he managed to complete 93% of his passes, which included one key pass and two successful dribbles out of his three attempts, per SofaScore. He also did very good defensively as he won seven ground duels out of ten and all three of his aerial duels.
Granit Xhaka is normally the one out of the middle two who is known to break up play, however it seems Ceballos helped the Switzerland midfielder out a lot as he intercepted the ball four times whilst making one tackle.
These stats will be a message to Mikel Arteta, showing him that he can rely on the Real Madrid loanee in both attack and defence, and if he can continue to perform like this then it would definitely give Arsenal a huge boost as they mount a late charge for a top six place.
