As per the outlet, the technical director of Feyenoord, Frank Arnesen, is open to selling Kokcu in order to raise the budget for new signings.
The report claims that the north London club have been considering a move for the 19-year old for a long time and are now expected to make an offer within a few weeks.
It has also been claimed that Mikel Arteta is supporting the Gunners’ push to sign Kokcu as he has been aware of the midfielder since his time under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.
The 38-year old views Kokcu as a player who fits in with his philosophy, however, AFC are set to face strong competition from Sevilla for the Turkish U21 international.
Monchi, Sevilla’s director of football, has apparently already travelled to the Netherlands to hold talks with Kokcu’s representatives.
Feyenoord had been open to rewarding their £23 million-valued ace with a new contract but the Dutch club are unwilling to meet his demands.
This may give an opportunity for Arteta and Arsenal to pounce for his in the upcoming summer transfer window, which could finally spell the end for Mesut Ozil at the north London club.
Should Arsenal terminate Ozil's contract?
Given that the play in similar roles and based off of their stats in their respective domestic leagues so far in the 2019/2020 season, Kokcu could provide a rather adequate replacement for the 31-year old.
Kokcu has scored more goals and made more assists than Ozil this term, whilst also averaging more shots and dribbles per game, according to Whoscored.
Whilst he may be playing in a weaker league, he still has youth on his side as well compared to the German, which might work in his favour and he could well prove to be more than capable of competing at Premier League level too.
