The latest news from the media suggests that Arsenal are in the market for a new attacking midfielder and their newest transfer target in this position is Dejan Zukic.
According to The Daily Star, the 19 year-old is attracting interest from four other Premier League sides as well as Arsenal. This includes North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur, Leicester City, Everton and Southampton.
It is not just clubs in England who are keen on the player, with Inter Milan and Olympiakos keeping tabs on Zukic, who has also been compared with fellow Serbian Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
Zukic looks like he is having his breakthrough season at Vojvodina, as following his 10 appearances in the Serbian division in 2018/19 which saw him pick up one goal and four assists, he is now a more common name on the team sheet in 2019/20, per Transfermarkt.
Is Zukic a good signing for Arteta?
He has already made 28 appearances, scoring six goals and has been promoted to the Serbian U19 team in September where he’s managed five goals and one assist.
Although he might not come straight into the starting eleven at Arsenal, a player who has drawn comparisons to one of Europe’s most wanted players in Milinkovic-Savic bodes well for the youngster and the Gunners should see him as a player for their future.
With young players like Bukayo Saka, Joe Willock, and Gabriel Martinelli emerging into the senior squad this season, there is no reason that Zukic couldn’t do the same and he would definitely be training with a squad that would increase his quality even better. He could be an ideal player for the Gunners to sign.
