Arsenal: Danilo Pereira believes he would work well at the Gunners - Arsenal Transfer Rumours

Arsenal clearly would like a new defensive midfielder, as they have been heavily linked to La Liga midfielder Thomas Partey this summer. But one of their other transfer links is to Danilo Pereira and it looks like he would favour the move following his latest quotes on the speculation.

Danilo said, according to Stats Perform News, via Yahoo Sports: “I think he [Arteta] is doing a really, really, good job there. He is a really good coach who started as the second coach at [Manchester] City, so he has a little experience and Arsenal play very good football and I think he is doing very well there.

“The style I think I can fit there, the way he plays also thinking on the ball, the team always has to be together I think it is a good way to play.

“Of course I like to be here in Porto to be here in my country, but I want to be in a better league like the Premier League.

“I always dreamed about playing in that league. I played also in Serie A but I think the Premier League is a huge league and one day I want to play there, to improve to be a better player. I think it’s the best league in the world.”

Pereira has featured 37 times in all competitions including in the Champions League, and looks to be a very solid defensive midfielder as he has managed 1.1 interceptions and 1.2 tackles per game, via WhoScored.

He is also 6’1″, and this would add some much needed height and physicality to the middle of the pitch for the Gunners. His career both in the Portuguese league, as well as in Europe and also for Portugal highlights that he has a wealth of experience. This experience also comes with winning mentality as he has won the European Championships with his country as well as two league titles with Porto, per Transfermarkt.

The fact he has also said he would suit Arsenal’s style shows that he rates what the club are doing at the moment and he seems fancy the move after admitting it is his dream to play in the Premier League.

To have a player with such quality and a winning mentality seemingly favour a move to the club would be great. If they are unable to get Thomas Partey, Pereira would be a great alternative option.
