There is plenty of transfer business going on at Arsenal, judging by recent reports. They announced the signing of Gabriel Magalhaes on Tuesday whilst apparently another loan move for Dani Ceballos is on the cards.
In addition to this, there has been a fresh update on two reported transfer targets who have also been on the Gunners’ wish list.
According to David Ornstein, despite the potential return of Ceballos, both Thomas Partey and Houssem Aouar remain transfer targets for the club and they are still looking to pursue deals for both.
This would see Mikel Arteta have an abundance of midfield options available to him, but it is understandable that they both remain targets as there is no chance of Matteo Guendouzi being able to get back into the line-up.
This is a very positive sign for Arsenal as it shows a big statement of intent that the north London side are not happy with where they finished last season and they want to be battling again for the top six at a minimum.
The two midfield transfer targets would bring different aspects to the Arsenal squad, too, as Partey is a solid player to have in front of a defence. Last season for Atletico Madrid, he managed two successful tackles and 1.4 interceptions per match, whilst also averaging 1.9 successful dribbles a game, per WhoScored.
Meanwhile, in Ligue 1 last season, Lyon playmaker Aouar scored three goals and set up another two, via WhoScored, whilst averaging 1.1 tackles, 1.8 shots, one key pass and 2.6 successful dribbles per game.
Both also have experience of playing in the Champions League and so they would be great additions for the Arsenal squad; and if they can sell a couple of unwanted players like Guendouzi, then they can free up squad places and a portion of the wage bill in order to bring in the likes of Aouar and Partey.
