Mikel Arteta clearly has a plan at Arsenal, and it seems to involve youth as the latest reports suggest he will not be letting one young star depart this summer.
According to The Daily Mail, Ligue 1 side Monaco are very keen on Emile Smith Rowe and sporting director Paul Mitchell would love to take him to France.
Meanwhile Crystal Palace have expressed an interest in a permanent move and both Fulham and Leeds are keen on a loan. Monaco seem to have made the first move, but this approach for the midfielder has been knocked back by the Gunners.
The 20-year-old was on loan at Championship side Huddersfield last term, per Transfermarkt. Supporters of the north London side will likely be familiar Smith Rowe, as he has featured 12 times for the first team and scored three goals, per Transfermarkt.
It is easy to see why he is attracting interest as he performed well in the Championship at with the Terriers, scoring two goals and supplying two assists, whilst also averaging 1.5 shots, 1.5 key passes and 1.5 successful dribbles a game, per WhoScored.
The Englishman is young and showing a lot of potential, and he is the ideal type of player to have around the squad to be called upon if needed as Arteta is having to be very clever with who he signs in the transfer window due to recent events causing financial struggles.
The Gunners will have a lot of games to play next season as they will be in four competitions including the Europa League and therefore Smith Rowe should not feel like he will not get some game time. Also he can grow very well at the club under the guidance of Arteta and even if he is not playing consistently, he is still young so staying at the Gunners under a manager who clearly rates him is a good move for him and a smart move for the club.
