Arsenal seem to have made significant progress in their pursuit for Gabriel Magalhaes as a bid has reportedly been accepted for the Lille centre-back.
According to Calciomercato, the Gunners have had an offer of around €28m (£25.38m) accepted for the Ligue 1 defender and now all that is left is for personal terms and the medical to be sorted.
The defender made 30 appearances between the two competitions, averaging 3.3 clearances, 1.8 tackles, and 1.2 interceptions per game, via WhoScored.
Gabriel’s statistics make for impressive reading and, at the age of just 22, he could be a solid defender for the Gunners for many seasons to come if he ends up at the Emirates Stadium.
With Arsenal defenders David Luiz and Sokratis nearing their mid-30’s, Gabriel could be coming in at the perfect time to gain good experience from the elder statesmen before going on to take their places in the team once the veteran duo depart the scene.
Gunners fans, how big a coup would it be to sign Gabriel? Comment below with your views!
