Arsenal have been handed a major boost in their pursuit of Atletico Madrid central midfield player Thomas Partey after Ghanaian sports journalist Ekow Amoasi (via LT Arsenal) made a rather bold claim on YouTube that he would like to sign for the north London club in the upcoming transfer window.
Contd – "Partey wants to play for Arsenal, he wants to be in England. Last week, I've been told that Essien has got in touch with him and I wouldn't be surprised because close sources tell me that Partey wants to play in England and especially Arsenal."

As per the journalist, a close source to Partey has apparently said that he wants to play for the Gunners, adding that the footballing world should expect him to play at the Emirates Stadium from next season onward. He add edthat the 26-year old will be in England and claimed that Chelsea legend Michael Essien has got in touch with him, something with which he is not surprised.
Indeed, Partey plays in a similar position to that which his fellow countryman Essien used to occupy at Stamford Bridge, where the latter truly rose to prominence. However, Partey has arguably made a name for himself already in the Spanish capital and his performances in La Liga so far this season have shown that. The man from Ghana wins a relatively impressive 6.6 duels per game in Spain’s top flight whilst also averaging 2.1 tackles, 1.4 interceptions and 1.2 clearances per match, according to Sofascore.
Should Arsenal prioritise signing Partey?
Based off of his stats, Partey may fit well into Mikel Arteta’s system, as he has highlighted his ability to win the ball back in the middle of the park which he can then distribute further forward to set the Gunners on the attack.
Whether the journalist is proven to be right and a possible transfer materialises is another question, but this will most likely provide a boost to fans.
