It seemed that the Gunners had lost interest when the Armenian joined the Italian side and rumours of the Dutchman coming to North London disappeared, but now reports of the latter have reignited.
According to Italian media outlet Correio Dello Sport, Arsenal are still ‘in the running’ for Kluivert ahead of this summer. The report claimed that Roma value their 21-year-old talent at around €30m (£26.9m).
It seems like the Gunners are waiting until the summer transfer window to make an official move, so it will be interesting to see how much they might bid in the summer.
The 21-year-old has played 19 games this season and only scored four goals as well as providing one assist, per WhoScored. He has plenty of creative intent as he has averaged 1.8 shots, one key pass and 1.7 successful dribbles a game, per WhoScored.
While Kluivert’s figures seem impressive, Arsenal already have an array of talent in the wide positions as they have Nicolas Pepe, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Bukayo Saka and the currently injured Gabriel Martinelli who can all play there, with that quartet scoring 45 goals between them this season.
This shows that they have a lot of depth in wide areas and, with reports suggesting that the Gunners’ transfer budget will be limited, Mikel Arteta should focus that on other positions where he doesn’t have such depth.
