Arsenal defender Konstantinos Mavropanos could be on his way out of the Emirates Stadium the summer after reportedly attracting interest from suitors in Germany.
According to Kicker, via SportsWitness, VfB Stuttgart are looking to sign the player in the upcoming transfer window as they seek to strengthen their squad upon promotion back to the Bundesliga. However, as the German outfit have a limited transfer budget of roughly €5m (£4.5m), they may see if the Gunners would allow the centre-back to join them on loan.
Mavrapanos is only 22 and was loaned out to 2. Bundesliga side FC Nurnberg this season, where he made 12 appearances and helped them team to four clean sheets, per Transfermarkt. It seems that he made an impression in the German second tier as Stuttgart reportedly now want him as part of their squad in the top flight.
The fact that Mavropanos has been loaned out this season highlights that Arteta thinks he needs to grow some more before he plays in the Premier League consistently.
Therefore, another loan deal appears to be a good idea, and Stuttgart seems like a great move as he would be getting experience in one of Europe’s leading divisions and, from there, Arteta can see how well he does and duly decide whether he has a future with the Gunners.
